You can apply for a family visa, if you have one of the following in the UK;

  • Spouse or partner

In order to apply for a Family Visa as a partner or spouse, you will need to adhere to the following requirements:

  • You and your partner must be over the age of 18 years old to qualify for a Family Visa
  • You must be involved in a genuine relationship
  • You must intend to live in the UK (for a minimum of 2.5 years)
  • Fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner

If you’re applying as a fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner, you must prove that:

  • any previous marriages or civil partnerships have ended
  • you plan to marry or become civil partners within 6 months of arriving in the UK

  • Child:

This visa allows British citizens or individuals settled in the United Kingdom to bring their non-EU child in the UK. Therefore, the main criterion for a child to be eligible for this type of visa, is to have one of their parents already residing in the UK.

  • Parent:
  • A UK parent visa is a form of visa that allows a parent to join their child who is under the age of 18, not living an independent life, and a British citizen or a permanent resident in the UK.
  • Please note that if your partner is also a UK resident (British Citizen or settled in the UK) like your child, and living together with the child, then you will have to apply for the UK spouse visa instead of Parent visa.
  • To be able to apply for the Parent route, you should not be in a relationship with your child’s other British/ settled parent in the UK.
  • To make a successful application, you need to prove that you meet the parental responsibility, financial and language requirements of this visa.
  • On the other hand, if you are the parent of an independent child living in the UK and wish to join him or her because you need someone to look after you because of your age, physical or mental health, you must apply as an adult coming to be cared for by a relative.
